TOADIES
Made in Texas EP (Maybe Records)
3k’s
A decades-spanning EP of grunge-ified alternative rock.
Twenty years is a long time to wait to make someone’s acquaintance but, after two decades of existence – give or take several year long hiatus when they still serially reformed for one-off gigs – the Toadies will be touring the UK for the first time ever this month. Whether the fact that they’ve finally got round to it is flattering or insulting is open to debate but this EP, comprising two tracks from each of their three albums so far is a reasonable enough calling card, mixing raw, sleazy bluesy howls with a more laid-back rhythmic drawl and hip-shaking alt-rock hooks.

Kerrang rates c.d’s and ep’s with a number of K’s, thus the 3K’s out of 5.
