Toadies “No Deliverance” is now available on vinyl. This limited edition vinyl release includes an extended version of “Hell in High Water” and a coupon to download all tracks as mp3s. Also available is a new line of tour shirts and a re-printing of the Dia De Los Toadies merch which didn’t last long the first time around. All of this and more is available at Kirtland Records.
Alternative Press Review of No Deliverance
Toadies are often unfairly lumped in with repressed memories of mid-90s alt-rock has-beens like Spacehog and Stroke 9. But they should be lumped with Harvey Danger and Eels as a band who withstood one-hit wonderdom and built a small, dedicated following. No Deliverance, their first studio album since 2001, really isn’t any different from anything else they’ve done (sounding–I swear–like a less angry Every Time I Die), but who wants Toadies to change? Sold Out Roxy (LA) Show Review
There’s a 20-something, tall blonde girl stripped down to her bra jumping up and down, beer spilled all over the floor and a smattering of flannel shirts in the Roxy. Given their off-kilter rhythms and often beautifully deranged lyrics, that’s what you should expect from a Toadies show. In 1994, that would’ve been a likely scene at any of the Texas rock band’s gigs, but in 2008, it’s still the case. That’s comforting in a twisted way. What’s even more comforting is that The Toadies rock harder than ever, and Toadies 2.0 kicks some serious tail. Read more
